Weather-related information in Australia is provided by the Bureau of Meteorology, an Australian Government agency. The agency is responsible for providing weather forecasts, including flood and cyclone alerts. All information related to Australian weather and forecasts are available in their official website. Australian Weather Stats is a desktop utility software that is capable of retrieving real-time weather statistics from the Australian Bureau of Meteorology and display the information in a very neat way on the desktop. If you ever wanted to knows the weather on a day-to-day basis, there are many informative websites available such as 'weather.cloader.net'. However, Weather Stats brings the entire relevant information to your desktop without any user interaction. During installation, you need to select your location from a drop-down list and you are done. On starting up, the program takes a few seconds to retrieve the location specific weather information from the observation station before displaying a small icon in the system tray. The software is capable of retrieving weather forecasts from more than 720 Australian Bureau of Meteorology weather stations. You can also configure it to be displayed as a desktop banner instead of a minimalistic tray icon, which displays all observations from the particular selected weather station. The banner sits at the top of the desktop making room for itself. Though the program provides a lot of weather related information, the user interface is very cumbersome, with features and configuration options hidden or not readily accessible to the novice user.
